Why We Chose Troy and English Ivy Over Seven Other Estate Sale Companies
"We hired Troy and his crew to handle my mother's estate sale. We were being pretty picky about who we hired because Mom had a pretty extensive collection of antiques, and we wanted to make sure the seller understood how to market and price these items.
After interviewing seven different companies, we really found English Ivy to be the best fit for us. It was clear from the first visit that Troy completely understood the value and uniqueness of my mom's collection. It was also clear that he was genuinely excited to be a part of the sale. Several of the other sellers weren't very impressive in this way.
I was also pleased with the flat percentage plan that they use for a sale. Several sellers had much higher percentages, minimum payments, and lots of add-on fees. English Ivy's crew started staging the sale about two weeks before the sale, and we were extremely impressed by how well they displayed the items and showcased special pieces on the web. (Mom had a TON of stuff!)
We also liked that English Ivy had a clear structure for how they would market the sale, a clear process for managing crowds during the sale, and a plan for keeping the house clean while hundreds of people tromped through in the middle of a snowstorm.
Friends who attended the sale were very complimentary of the professionalism of Troy's staff and the way the sale was handled. After the sale, the clean-out crew they recommended took away any of the leftovers that we didn't want, provided us with donation receipts, and tidied up after themselves.
